Normal Resident Leaves Generous Donation to OSF St. Joseph Medical Center
Normal resident, Ken Smith has left a very special, philanthropic legacy. The generous man passed on April 20, 2015 leaving his entire estate to charity. Among the recipients were OSF St. Joseph Medical Center in Bloomington, Illinois. Two other Illinois hospitals among with area churches will receive the remainder of the estate. None of the organizations were told of the forthcoming donation, making this a very special and unexpected gift.
An active and beloved member of his community, Smith was a member of the Masons since 1955 and was part of the Normal Lodge. Decorated as a 33rd degree sovereign grand inspector general, Smith took pride in being part of the group.
OSF. St. Joseph Medical Center is thrilled to continue the mission of serving every patient, every time, with the greatest care and love.
"A gift like this is an excellent example of a legacy that donors can leave to ensure their philanthropic wishes are continued beyond their lifetime," said Jennifer Sedbrook, director of philanthropy at St. Joseph.
Planned giving offers creative strategies for grateful patients, passionate community members and friends of OSF Healthcare to make a gift while also achieving their own financial goals. For more information on estate planning and other related topics, please visit osflegacyofhope.org.
