The Dona and Howard Little Family Waiting Alcove was unveiled at OSF St. Joseph Medical Center on Thursday, October 1 at 12 p.m.
Dona Little was a graduate of the Kansas Conservatory of Music and worked as a professional vocalist. She was diagnosed with melanoma in 1998 and received the greatest quality of care from the staff at OSF St. Joseph until her passing in 2002. Her husband of 51 years, Howard, has since been a dedicated supporter of the hospital. He has been a donor, a regular attendee at special fundraising events, and has taken an active interest in the future of OSF St. Joseph and its impact on the overall health of the community.
The naming of the alcove recognizes the incredible legacy Howard has already begun to create. Last year, he worked with OSF Foundation staff to develop the first designated endowment for the OSF St. Joseph Foundation. The Dona and Howard Little Innovation Endowment will support the Hybrid Operating Room and future innovative projects at OSF St. Joseph. The Hybrid Operating Room, scheduled to be completed in the summer of 2016, has been labeled the “operating room of the future” and will have the most advanced imaging technology available, and allow for diagnostic and surgical procedures to occur simultaneously. As a result, patients will experience a decreased length of stay in the hospital, reduced opportunity for infections, and faster recovery time.
