Thursday, October 19, 2017Heart of Gold Dinner

The 20th annual “Heart of Gold” dinner to benefit the OSF HealthCare St. Francis Hospital and Medical Group will be held Thursday, Oct. 19 at the Terrace Bay Inn.

Each year, chefs from across the Upper Peninsula – all members of the Upper Peninsula Chapter of the American Culinary Federation – prepare a seven-course dinner with specialty wines to complement each course.

Past events have featured charcoal grilled shrimp and sea scallops, smoked portabella mushroom soup, black bean and butter nut squash soup, peanut crusted black earth pork belly with pumpernickel bread pudding, Chilean sea bass, Michigan mangalitsa heritage pork, ostrich wellington, Maui shrimp, roasted elephant garlic and double brie soup, pheasant and butternut squash ravioli with wild mushroom ragout, seared halibut, roasted pumpkin risotto, grilled maple leaf duck and Mediterranean squid. Each event culminates with a mouth-watering dessert, including pumpkin cheesecake with pomegranate coulis, pistachio crème anglais, crème brulee and warm pumpkin crepe.

Proceeds from this year's event will benefit St. Francis and remain in Delta County to support needed health care services, patient's comfort and new technology. More than $14 million has been donated to date.
