On June 27, 2019, Sister Judith Ann Duvall, O.S.F., Chairperson of OSF HealthCare System and Major Superior for The Sisters of the Third Order of St. Francis, OSF HealthCare Saint James-John W. Albrecht Medical Center leadership, valued OSF Saint James board members and friends from the Livingston County community, joined the OSF HealthCare Foundation to celebrate the inaugural reception of the 1877 Legacy Society for the OSF Saint James community. We are immensely grateful to our hosts, Candy and Collins Miller for opening their home to us for this very special event.
Every person in attendance represented a dedicated heart for this life-affirming Mission. Together, we celebrated the beginning of a new program that allows the OSF HealthCare Foundation to recognize those from the OSF Saint James community who have chosen to share their decision to support the area of our OSF Ministry most meaningful to them with a gift in their Will or estate plan. Named for the year the Sisters’ began this sacred Ministry, the 1877 Legacy Society honors those who have shared this decision.
The Foundation recognizes the sacred nature of a planned gift. As one of the most personal gifts a person can make, we realize it is also one of the most meaningful. When a person shares their legacy decision, it is a blessing for this Ministry. Each time a legacy decision is shared, it provides critical insights for the Sisters as they prayerfully look to the future needs of this Ministry.
Legacy gifts hold a tremendous promise for the Ministry of OSF and the people we serve. The 1877 Legacy Society is a beautiful representation of One OSF, All Together Better. Together, we are strengthening this Ministry as a whole so the Sisters’ Mission will be here to care for future generations.
