OSF Saint Clare One Year Anniversary Celebration

OSF Saint Clare hosted a first anniversary celebration for Mission Partners and the community on Thursday, August 4. It was a lovely celebration honoring the community we are blessed to serve. Attendees enjoyed a locally catered meal, dessert and Kona Ice courtesy of OSF HealthCare. Steve Sharp serenaded the crowd and OSF HealthCare leaders shared their knowledge and services with the community. Face painting, wellness activities by OSF Rehab and local EMS provided entertainment for our youngest community members. We truly enjoyed an evening spent in fellowship celebrating the one-year anniversary of OSF Saint Clare. We appreciate those who came to celebrate and our Mission Partner volunteers who helped to put on a wonderful event.

A message from Roxanne Crosser, CEO Northern Region

“A lasting partnership was forged on July 1, 2021, between OSF HealthCare and the city of Princeton and surrounding areas. I was truly humbled to be part of the process of working with the leadership of the Medical Center, The Perry Board, the Mayor, the City and so many Perry employees. Getting to know the caring leaders throughout the community during the transition and during this first year was a deeply humbling experience. I cannot stress enough how privileged I have been to get to know so many people who truly care about the health of their community. When I think about the OSF Mission to serve persons with the greatest care and love in a community that celebrates the gift of life, I can’t help but think that the Mission has brought us to another place where God’s love will guide us successfully.”

A message from Gene Vincent, Member of the SCMC Community Council/Retired Lutheran Pastor

“It’s truly a blessing for a rural community to have a hospital and a clinic within its boundaries. Now the same specialists that I have worked with in Peoria since 1990 are available directly through the medical center in my hometown of Princeton. It gives me peace of mind to know that if I were to have a medical emergency, I would be connected to those physicians and staff who have known me and my conditions for so many years. Also, OSFMyChart records all my medical records and visits, whether in Peoria or in Princeton, in one location for easy reference for me and for my doctors. My wife Lisa and I are excited by the arrival of OSF to the Princeton area and enjoyed time with friends from the community who were also gathered to celebrate the one year anniversary.”

Jone Booth thought she was having an acid reflux episode. When rising to walk to the kitchen, she passed out. Fortunately, her husband was home and called 911. Donna VonHolten was watching the annual community parade, suddenly felt weak nauseous, and broke out in a cold sweat. She knew something was wrong, and her husband called 911. They both experienced fear and anxiety during the ambulance ride and were uncertain of what the future would hold.

In an instant, their lives had changed.

Celebrating OSF HealthCare Saint Clare Medical Center Blessing

On Thursday, July 1, 2021, OSF HealthCare held a blessing and dedication of OSF Saint Clare Medical Center. The ceremony was enjoyed by new Mission Partners and Princeton community members. It was a special day as we welcomed the hospital to the OSF HealthCare family.

When OSF HealthCare began the process of partnering with Perry Memorial Hospital, The Sisters of the Third Order of St. Francis and leadership of both organizations looked at a new name for the hospital. Due to the very special relationship that St. Clare of Assisi had with St. Francis, the namesake of OSF HealthCare, it was a natural choice to name the facility in her honor: OSF HealthCare Saint Clare Medical Center.
