The OSF HealthCare Foundation is excited to announce a $2.75 million gift from the Community Health Foundation of Warren and Henderson Counties. The gift will support a redesign of the emergency department at OSF HealthCare Holy Family Medical Center.

The generous gift will create a new emergency department which will provide more than 10,000 square feet of innovative space including 10 treatment rooms. Also included with be a dedicated triage area; private family consultation and behavioral health rooms; an ambulance bay with private entrance; and a decontamination room, which is crucial for the care necessary for those living in a rural community. The redesigned space will also include a multifunctional area for emergency and surgery patients.

This partnership between OSF Holy Family and the Community Health Foundation of Warren and Henderson Counties brings innovative and advanced medical options to the community and will allow for more than 10,000 community members to be served in the new space each year.

“OSF HealthCare Holy Family Medical Center has always been a top priority for the Community Health Foundation Board,” said Dorothy Ricketts, chairperson of the Community Health Foundation of Warren and Henderson Counties. “The ultimate goal of the Board of Directors of the Foundation is to maintain an up-to-date medical facility in the area, so that local residents have good access to quality medical care, and so that the medical caregivers have a great facility in which to practice. This gift is an example of the continued commitment of the Foundation to OSF HealthCare and our community.”

“I see this gift as the ongoing support from a community that believes in the health of the population and what is needed to assure continued services today and into the future,” said Roxanna Crosser, CEO, Western Region for OSF HealthCare. “What I have witnessed is a true partnership with the Community Health Foundation and OSF HealthCare. A partnership is based on trust. The Community Health Foundation wants to continue to be very involved and connected with OSF HealthCare, to understand and be innovative in what health care is and how to deliver health care to rural areas.”

The innovative and cross functional design will leverage space for various areas of medical needs while also controlling costs and allowing our Mission Partners to respond to unique challenges that can arise in a rural Critical Access Hospital. “What an exciting time for the OSF HealthCare Holy Family Medical Center and the community of Monmouth. Our Sisters began this Sacred Ministry with an unwavering faith that God would provide for us all that we need, to accomplish what He asks of us. This redesign project wouldn’t be possible without the wonderful commitment and compassion from the Community Health Foundation of Warren and Henderson Counties and I am certain with the support of the rest of the Monmouth community we will be able to continue ensuring that all patients receive high quality, compassionate emergency care. God Bless you!” Sister Judith Ann, O.S.F.

Construction of the new emergency department will begin this year with completion of the project expected by early 2022.
