The 21st Annual Heart of Gold Dinner, a surprise culinary experience, was held on Thursday, October 18. Chefs unveiled the mouthwatering menu at the Terrace Bay Inn in Gladstone, Michigan. Food lovers satisfied their palates with a eight-course dinner prepared and presented by chefs from across the Upper Peninsula. The chef’s are all members of the Upper Michigan Chapter of the American Culinary Federation.
The dinner’s culinary innovation ranks, in our minds, unlike any other in the community. Each chef presents the flavorful course, describes the culinary artistry and explains their selection choice to guests. Each course is paired with a fine wine to bridge flavors.
According to Jean Arvan, Director of Philanthropy, “the focus is entirely on the dining experience.” She notes, there are no raffles, auctions or prize drawings. “Guests can relax and simply enjoy fine cuisine prepared by the area’s best chefs.”
Event proceeds will remain in Delta County to support needed new health care services, patients’ comfort and new technology. More than $14 million has been donated to date. Due to generous philanthropic donations, including those generated from the event’s generous support:
- Every day, 14 more patients receive ultrasound studies
- We purchased 8 devices for lifesaving procedures
- We purchased 5 major pieces of equipment and furnishings for patients and their families
- We remodeled 2 spaces to create peaceful and uplifting environments.
- We implemented 2 innovative solutions to enhance surgical and neurological services
